Applying for a Marriage License

1. Both the bride and groom must be present when applying for a marriage license.
2. The bride and groom must apply for a license at one of the Cook County Clerk’s offices.
3. The marriage license is only valid in Cook County, and the ceremony must take place in Cook County.
4. The marriage license is valid only for 60 days from the day of application.
5. The license takes effect the day after the application has been filed.
6. The fee for a marriage license is $40.
7. Marriage license fees are non-refundable.
